Cult Classic Brewing (CC) is one of the newer Maryland breweries, opening in August 2018, and the only one on Kent Island. Barely a diversion from Westbound Rt 50, CC offers easy-off and easy-on access with plenty of parking.
I sat down with Brooks McNew, co-founder and brewer, and Rohry Flood, marketing human, to get their thoughts on their first year, detouring beach traffic and a look ahead.

The atmosphere can be an important component of the success of a taproom. And food can play a big role in attracting people the first time or on a repeat basis. Some young breweries provide this element through food trucks, which is what CC has done. When asked to describe their menu they paused and decided on “refined pub food”. Carry in food is welcomed as well.
With 15 beers on tap, Strawberry Blonde has become their most popular with the hazy IPA a close second. If you want to drink like a local and ask for a “Strazy”, a blend of the two. You may get a strange look or perhaps a slight smile. Either way, you'll enjoy the beer.

While we think we can stereotype drinkers, the guys said they've seen ladies enjoying stouts at one end of the bar and at the same time a group of burly men drinking the strawberry blonde at the other end. Just goes to show, you can't judge a book by its cover, or a person by their beer.
CC is decidedly family-friendly but welcoming to all. The food menu has items that the kids will love as well as a selection of adult favorites. Games are available for kids such as skeeball, pinball, and shuffleboard for adults.
Growlers and crowlers are available for take out with a canning line coming on soon.
