Suspended Brewing Closes

Suspended Brewing Co. in the Pigtown section of Baltimore City, posted on their website on January 1, 2024, that they have closed their taproom. They announced that they would be closing at the end of 2023 on their social media. (see below)

I have tried more than once to come in to Suspended for a pint, but our timing didn't align — once even standing at their door only to realize they were not open that day. I wish I had made it, but I look forward to visiting their new place in North Baltimore.

On a brighter note, Mystique Barrel Brewing and Lager House is planning on opening their brewery at the former Suspended Brewing Company space. They hope to open in June 2024.

Our Pigtown taproom is closed but we’re still distributing our beer to wonderful places all over Baltimore. Check out the Find Our Beer page.

Pigtown has been Suspended’s home over the past seven years. In 2017 we poured our first pint on New Year’s Eve. This New Year’s Eve we will pour our last pint at 912 Washington Blvd.

We’ve spent countless hours inside our space. We’ve renovated and built it up with our own hands, refined our craft here, and served our community members with a place for them to call their own.

While we always knew we would fill our brewery with beer, we never anticipated the love that would fill this place and the memories that we would create here from weddings, birthdays, going-away gatherings, reunions, first dates and continued date nights, baby showers, engagements, fundraisers, community meetings, everyday conversations, art shows, and so much more.

Whether you’ve stopped by once, or if our home also became yours, we are truly grateful. This journey would be impossible and meaningless without you.

Suspended barely made it through the pandemic. Like many other small businesses we have struggled to find steady footing ever since and, lately, having such a large taproom has presented its own challenges.

We’ve found a small, cozy building in North Baltimore that will become our brewery’s new home. The move is more than an address change: it’s an opportunity to reinvent ourselves. There is a lot of work ahead so we don’t have a timeline yet, but will share the journey along the way.
